HRFA Annual Contest Baits Anglers All Year Round: Reel in the Summer Thrills
Join HRFA Annual Fishing Contest: catch-and-release striped bass, win cash prizes, and support Hudson River conservation!
Event details
The HRFA Annual Fishing Contest is a year-round event that runs from January through December, exclusively for HRFA members and their immediate families. This contest offers various divisions with prizes, encouraging anglers to fish for multiple species throughout the year. Participants have 30 days from the day they catch a fish to submit their entries. The contest has introduced several important changes for 2025, including a strict “catch and release” policy for striped bass, with entries only accepted for striped bass that are measured in inches and released from either boat or shore. Additionally, the Saltwater and Freshwater Open Categories have been eliminated, and a new Fly Rod Category has been introduced for several saltwater and freshwater species. The Fly Rod Category includes saltwater species such as striped bass, bonito/false albacore, bluefish, and fluke, as well as freshwater species like trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, salmon, and carp. The contest is open to all HRFA members and their immediate families, promoting year-round fishing and conservation efforts. For more information and to submit entries, please visit the HRFA website.
